I.C. GIANNI RODARI, ROME - ITALY

As our Institute gets its name from a famous Italian writer of short stories for children, let me introduce you to our "hero" of the fairy tales: GIANNI RODARI!

Gianni Rodari, Giovanni Rodari (Omegna, 23 October 1920 - Rome, 14 April 1980), was an Italian writer, pedagogist, journalist and poet, specialized in children's literature and translated into many languages. The only Italian winner of the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Prize in 1970, he was one of the greatest interpreters of the "fantastic" theme and, thanks to the 1973 Grammar of Fantasy, his main work, one of the main theorists of the art of inventing stories.

SCHOOL GROUP GAMES AT PE LESSONS

As regarding games, we would like to show you our school games during PE lessons, with the extra help of a qualified trainer, sent by local authority, who tought us basketball and spoke about fair play at sport. We played group games and learnt the rules of fairplay and to respect the other players.
Thanks to the local authorities that gave us this wonderful opportunity!

Here are some of the games our students like to play. Unfortunately, our schools are closed because of Covid19, some of the students described their favourite games.

One on One Kuba R. grade 5b

When I go outside, I like playing with a ball. My favorite sport which I can play outside is basketball. I play with my father, one on one . The difference between traditional basketball and the one on one is that we play on one side of the court, and we play to one basket. Points are also calculated differently. We can get two or one point. In traditional basketball and one on one every players try to score by shooting a ball to the basket. The basket is placed 10 feet above the ground. I really play one on one in the fresh air when there is a nice weather and when it’s sunny.

Field games by Weronika grade 6a

Field games are very interesting. They include walks, hide and seek, flags and many more. They are perfect for spending time with friends. Warm, summer afternoon is perfect for playing tag or two fires.

My favorite outdoor game is paintball. A kind of team game, which consists of conducting a fake fight with the use of markers, devices similar in shape and principle to pneumatic weapons, which with the use of compressed air or carbon dioxide throw away balls filled with food-gelatin-based paint. Hitting an opponent, during which the ball crashes, leaving a colourful mark on the body, mask or marker of the player, causes his elimination from the game. I would like to go on a school trip and play paintball with my friends.

We usually play two or four fires on PE. I like to play and compete with my friends, but I don't like to throw a ball with the peasants, because you can't throw a ball with power.

Oliwia, grade 6b

My favourite outdoor game is a game - Classes

A classes game is a physical activity for at least two and more children. The more people take part in it, the more interesting the fun. Only chalk and a pebble will be needed to organize it.

Classes can be drawn in a similar way to drawings. Classes can be drawn from 1 field to 10 or less and moreWhen I was playing, I chose drawing one.

You have to stand in front of the field number 1 and throw a pebble on it. When it succeeds, the player begins to jump on one leg to the next fields: 1, 2, 3, 4. From field No. 4, place both legs on boxes No. 5, and then jump on one leg on field No. 6. I bounce again you have to jump on two legs to fields 7 and 8. Bounce you have to rotate 180 degrees and come back, jumping as before. The round is unsuccessful if the player steps on the line or falls out of the field. Players jump for a change. After completing the first round, there is the second round, when you have to throw a pebble on field No. 2. And so on until all 8 rounds are completed, i.e. 8 classes. The first to win is the winner.

Stalking game (podchody)

Stalking game is a kind of simple field game for children and teenagers. Is that one group escapes, leaving arrows, traces and tasks to solve (for example list) along the way, while the other group must catch it. Sometimes the organizers arrange puzzles and tasks to find the places where the players are to reach. To play you need:pad, something to write (felt-tip pens, pens, etc.), ribbon or thread for attaching paper to trees or poles. Play places are forest and city.

We played games with our youngest students. Nowadays these games are not very popular among students because they play different games instead of these old games but we try to preserve the traditional ones playing as much as possible.
